How does it work?
Learn below what you need to do to receive medical equipment and supplies from ReCARES.
1 – Before coming to ReCARES
Make a list of the healthcare equipment and supplies you need.
Make sure you know the estimated size of the person who will use it.
2 – Coming to ReCARES
Pick the ReCARES location that is more convenient for you.
You can find the address and open hours of our 3 locations by clicking here.
Arrive during open hours and line up.
Remember: if you are unable to come, someone else can do it for you and pick up what you need.
3 – At ReCARES
When is your turn at the line, a volunteer will work with you.
The volunteer will do their best to find what you need. We give as much as we can depending on the number of items available.
The volunteer will ask you to sign a liability waiver, but they won’t ask for your ID or insurance information.
Have more questions?
Read our answers to the frequently asked questions below:
What items do you have?
We often have items such as:
Walkers, canes, crutches, wheelchairs, shower stools, transfer benches, transport chairs, incontinence supplies (diapers, bed pads, etc.), gloves, wet wipes, unopened personal hygiene items, and more.
Some items move quicker than others, some of them might be in surplus and others might not be available for weeks. Everything we have has been received from our donors.
We are a program that encourages reuse, so most of the medical equipment you will find at ReCARES has been gently used by their previous owner(s) but is in good condition to go to a new home.
Because all our inventory depends on what has been donated, we cannot guarantee you will find what you need. You need to come, ask, and see.
Do you have large equipment, such as hospital beds or Hoyer lifts?
We do not have the storage space to keep these large items. However, we can try to match you with someone trying to donate larger equipment. If you would like us to help, please fill out this form and we will contact you soon.
Is there paperwork to sign?
You will be asked to sign a liability waiver when picking it up. However, ReCARES will not ask for your ID or insurance information. Everyone is welcome to use our services.
Are there any requirements?
No, everyone is welcome to ask for what they need. After you sign the liability waiver, the equipment is yours to use as you wish but we ask you not to sell it.
Do I need an appointment?
No, we work on a first-come-first-serve basis. Everyone is welcome to come and line up during our opening hours.
Are you open every week?
We only close on major holidays such as Christmas or Thanksgiving. To learn more about our site closures, please see the information about each location on our main page, or read our latest news.
Do you reserve the equipment?
No, given the high demand for many items we do not keep waiting lists.
Can you deliver?
No, we don’t have the means to do so. We recommend you contact a friend or family member to pick up on your behalf.
