Large DME Referral System
ReCARES does not have the storage capacity to accept donations of large pieces of medical equipment. Instead, we have a referral system, where we connect people around the Bay Area who wish to donate or receive equipment. Use the Sign Up form below to enter what kind of equipment you wish to donate/receive as well as your location and contact information.
This system is currently intended for donating or receiving the following types of equipment:
- Hospital Beds
- Motorized Bed Wedge (Adjustable Bed Frame)
- Large Attachable Bed Rails
- Hoyer Lift Frame
- Trapeze Frame
- Power Lift Recliner
- Sit to Stand Assist Device (SARA Lift, Lift Up, Stand Up Lift)
- Reclining or Tilt In Space Wheelchair
- Specialty or Sport Wheelchair
- Electric Wheelchair
- Power Mobility Scooter
- Mounted Stair Lift (Fixed)
- Battery Powered Stair Climber (Portable)
- Long Stairway Ramps (≥ 6 feet in length)
- Miscellaneous Large DME

All parties must have a working email address to use this system.
For recipients
If you are a recipient, we will email you a list of potential donors that match the equipment specifications you have entered. If you would like to receive multiple pieces of equipment, you must submit a new form for each piece.
Please note that ReCARES does not guarantee the availability of any piece of equipment. You will be responsible for contacting the individuals whose information we provide you with. ReCARES will not assist in the transfer or assembly of the equipment. You will be responsible for inspecting the equipment and ensuring that it meets your needs. ReCARES makes no guarantees regarding the quality or condition of the equipment.
For donors
If you are a donor, we will share your information with potential recipients that have indicated a need for the type of equipment you have listed. If you would like to donate multiple pieces of equipment, you must submit a new form for each piece.
Once you have donated your equipment or no longer have need for this service, use the Opt-Out form below to remove your information from our system. To opt-out, you will need to enter the email address you used to sign up as well as the type of equipment which you would like removed. We will continue to share your information with potential donors until we hear otherwise.
Notifications
You may opt to receive notifications regarding potential matches for your equipment. If you opt into notifications for a specific entry, you will be notified via email every time a new listing is posted for the equipment type that you selected in your initial submission. If you successfully find a match for your equipment, or would no longer like to receive notifications, opt out of notifications using the opt out form below. You must fill out the form for every piece of equipment that you have opted in for if you would like to stop receiving all notifications.
