The Oakland site currently has an overabundance of the following items and is looking to pass them on quickly: gauze, braces, gait belts, hearing aid batteries, hot/cold gel packs, ostomy and urinary supplies, tube feeding and suction supplies, oxygen tubing, lancets.
You can check out our donations page to get a sense of what items we do and don't generally have. If you are requesting several items, we encourage you to bring a list so we can help you more quickly (and so you don't forget anything!).
We've also compiled supply recommendations for various conditions and needs. Check out our supply recommendations here.
Each site has its own open hours. Check out our location information page here.
No appointment needed - just show up during our open hours! A volunteer will work with you to find the item(s) you need. You do not need to bring an ID or other paperwork, but we will ask you to sign a liability waiver. The waiver confirms that you understand:
That we are not providing medical advice nor should our recommendations be thought of as a substitute for medical advice.
That we cannot certify or guarantee the quality or condition of anything we distribute. Everything we receive is donated, and while we do our best to inspect for quality, we cannot be held responsible for faulty or damaged items.
Looking for a hospital bed, power chair, stair lift, long ramp, or other large item? We do not have space at our sites to hold these items, but we have developed a referral system so you can connect with people in the Bay Area who are looking to give away these items. You can learn more about this system and list an item on our Large DME page.
For high-demand items (e.g. rollators, pull-up diapers, wet wipes, chucks/bed pads), when inventory is low there may be limits on how many items each person can receive. This is so that we can serve as many people as we can. We appreciate your understanding.
First-come, first-serve:
Keep in mind that we operate on a first-come, first-serve basis; we do not have capacity to reserve items. If an item is not available, you can wait to see if one is donated, or you can try visiting at another time or at another site. Our inventory is constantly changing.
Behavior:
Please remember that our sites are staffed by volunteers. We aim to treat every visitor with dignity and respect, and we expect visitors to treat volunteers and other visitors similarly. Harassment will not be tolerated.
Support our work:
While we receive our inventory for free, we still have operational costs to cover, such as rent for our sites. If you are able to, please consider donating to offset our costs. Without financial support, we are unable to continue our work. You can donate through PayPal/credit card here or by cash/check at our sites.
